Beehive Counseling is a woman- and queer-owned practice that whose mission it is to build a culture of community care that promotes generational growth and healing. Our team is diverse and inclusive. Our Job Description:

What might make you a great fit at Beehive Couseling:

  • Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree in marriage and family therapy, counseling, psychology or social work; and 

  • Unrestricted, active license (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) in the State of Connecticut.

  • Available to hold at least 24 client session hours per week, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Beehive Counseling

  • Available to work at least one evening per week or part or all of one weekend day

  • Eagerness to develop a clinical focus for counseling services (i.e., children, teens, trauma, anxiety, grief, anger management, EMDR, etc.) 

    Skills that will help you succeed at Beehive Counseling:

    1. Strong working knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.

    2. Strong working knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.

    3. Strong working knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins.

    4. Team player. Collaborate well with team members in support of our clients and community.  

    5. Demonstrate a passion for working with others (being collaborative) and helping fellow team members grow and learn.

    6. Ability to accept and act on candid performance feedback. 

    7. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and during crises. 

    8. Flexibility and adaptability. 

    9. Genuine interest in helping others; clients and team members. 

    10. Excellent organizational skills. 

    11. High attention to detail.

    12. High level of personal commitment and follow-through. 

    13. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks (without many reminders).

Job Description Agreements

  1. Our clinicians hold sessions both on-site and via telehealth, depending on client needs and your availability.

  2. Our clients and colleagues depend on us. Our clinicians agree to observe regular and reliable attendance and timely arrival to work.

  3. While working at Beehive, our clinicians agree to be properly licensed and abide by all laws, rules, regulations, and codes of ethics that are binding upon us as clinical professionals and as a practice.

  4. We take pride in being responsive to our clients. Our clinicians agree to respond to clients’ requests for service or calls within 48 hours (24 hours whenever possible), whether such requests are made in person, by phone, voicemail, email, etc.

  5. Our reputation in the community is that we are highly responsive also to treatment teams and referral sources, therefore we communicate in a timely manner with a client’s treatment team (i.e., PCP, psychiatrist, school, etc.) as necessary.

  6. Documentation is an important aspect of our jobs and ensures a clear and complete history of our work with clients. We agree that we complete written records in a timely fashion for each client, including, but not limited to: intake notes, progress notes, treatment plans (reviewed at least every 6 months), termination notes, and other forms or documents which may be needed or required from time to time.

  7. As clinicians, we are good stewards of the financial health of the practice by supporting our admin staff in their job of charging and collecting payments from clients for services we have provided.

  8. We attend required staff meetings and trainings. We come together every 4th Thursday for our staff meeting, which focuses on building community with each other, learning, and having vulnerable conversations. We also offer peer-led group supervision twice monthly. We expect that you will prioritize these meetings as they are an important part of building a culture based on our values.

  9. We conduct the work we do in a heart-centered and ethical manner so as to provide the best client care, and to maintain and increase the goodwill and reputation of Beehive Counseling.

  10.  We agree to observe and live by the values that have been identified as vital to who we are as a community of clinicians. We understand that this work is hard, and we agree to ask for help whenever necessary. We agree to be generous with our help for others.
