I ended up having a bagel today because I was so good yesterday, and I figured I could run an extra mile on the treadmill to make up for it, but I’m just so tired. I did pretty good with lunch today - a salad with romaine, cucumbers, and carrots and light ranch dressing. Maybe I’ll skip dinner. Oh my god…I’m doing it again. Why do I think about this so much? It’s just food. I’m allowed to eat. I’M HUNGRY. I’m thinking about my body a lot, and it’s making me so anxious. I feel so much shame and guilt about everything. I like the idea of finding freedom with food and making peace with my body because how I’ve been doing things is clearly not working!

You feel like you’re obsessed with food and your body and you believe there must be a better way, but you’re not sure where to start. I would love to help.

My Approach:

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 4 years of experience working with young adults, children and adolescents who struggle with issues like eating disorders, body image concerns, trauma/PTSD, dissociative disorders, OCD, anxiety and depression. Most recently, I completed the training to become a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

A Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor is a health professional who holds space for clients to develop a healthier relationship with food and their bodies. Intuitive eating is a framework that rejects typical diet/deprivation culture and can help you make peace with all kinds of foods by learning to trust your body and its needs.

I use a Health At Every Size, person-centered, trauma informed and culturally sensitive approach in my work with clients. I find that Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) can be helpful for clients who want to understand and change their unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors.

Additionally, I enjoy my work with children (ages 7+) and adolescents. I use mindfulness and art and play therapy to help kids and adults learn to understand and express themselves, and improve problem-solving.

Finally, I am committed to understanding and dismantling the role of privilege and power in therapy, and am committed to maintaining an anti-oppressive, liberatory practice.

If therapy with me sounds like a good fit, please reach out! I look forward to our work together.

Does insurance cover the cost of therapy sessions?

I work with clients with Husky/Medicaid, Anthem BCBS, United/Optum/Connecticare/Oxford, Aetna, and CIGNA/Evernorth. I am in the process of being paneled with Medicare. I will also work with your OON benefits and offer a sliding scale. I practice in our Manchester CT office and offer teletherapy.
